The LMS-901 "Baikal" project, a Russian initiative to develop a light multipurpose aircraft, has gained renewed momentum after reports of its potential termination were refuted by authorities. The project, part of the State Program "Development of the Aviation Industry," has completed four phases, including conceptual design, prototype construction, and static testing. The current phase, "LMS-5," focuses on integrating the domestically developed VK-800SM engine and AV-901 propeller, refining prototypes, and conducting certification tests. With a government contract valued at 10.3649 billion rubles ($124.38 million), the project is divided into nine phases, set to conclude by December 17, 2027. Key milestones include preliminary and static tests in 2025, certification documentation preparation, and finalizing design modifications by 2026. The aircraft is designed for versatility, with a maximum operational altitude of 3,000 meters, a cruise speed of 250 km/h, and a range varying from 745 km to 1,520 km depending on payload. The project aims to achieve TRL-8, ensuring the technology is fully tested, reliable, and ready for operational deployment. This phase also involves expanding the operational capabilities of the engine and propeller, enhancing their service life, and conducting additional certification work from 2026 to 2027. #LMS901 #BaikalAircraft #VK800SM #AV901Propeller Be a Member for exclusive privileges - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCviEFTf1xIPKsjmyF_zvFug/join Twitter : https://x.com/AltitudeAddicts Website: https://www.altitudeaddicts.com
